TULSA - UPDATE: Tulsa police have released the name of a woman hit and killed by a train on the north side of downtown Tulsa early Tuesday afternoon.
They identify her as Jana Lawrence, 46, of Tulsa.
The accident happened near the intersection of E. 1st Street and S. Elwood Avenue about 1:00 p.m.
Tulsa County Sheriff's Office Maj. Shannon Clark confirmed the fatality, adding that the situation had created a traffic snarl with the train stopped and the police working the scene.
The accident happened right next to the TCSO headquarters, and deputies could not get in or out of their parking lot as the investigation got underway.
Police say the woman and another pedestrian were crossing the tracks as two trains, one eastbound and one westbound, moved through the area.
She was hit by the westbound train.
The other person was not injured.
