TULSA, Okla. - UPDATE:
Tulsa Police have released the names of two of the people involved in the fatal accident that shut down 61st St. for about five hours.
The USPS worker killed was 40-year-old John W. McCorkel, II.
The driver of the truck investigators believe caused the accident is 22-years-old Matthew Lloyd Lynch.
61st St. was reopened shortly before 3 P.M.
A pickup truck smashed into three other vehicles Thursday morning, leaving one person dead and sending three more to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.
Police tell KRMG at the scene that witnesses said the pickup was eastbound in the westbound lanes at the Joe Creek Bridge over E. 61st St., just west of Lewis Ave.
The driver of the first vehicle struck died at the scene.
KRMG has learned that vehicle was a USPS mail truck, and the driver a letter carrier.
TPD has not released his name, but says his family has been notified.
KRMG spoke with the passenger of the pickup, who said he was asleep at the time of the crash and didn't know how it happened.
Police got the call about 9:30 a.m., according to TPD Ofcr. Leland Ashley.
Police shut down E. 61st St. for about two blocks as they investigated the deadly wreck.
