Original: Homicide Sgt. Dave Walker released the following statement:
A high intensity investigation into the shooting death of April Montano on 05/29/2014 has resulted in the arrest of David Ruble B/M DOB 08/01/1994. Ruble was the driver of the black charger stopped by Tulsa Police Patrol officers soon after the shooting took place. Detectives needed to interview more witnesses prior to arresting Ruble for the murder. That has been done.
Homicide investigators, Agents with the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force, Tulsa Police Gang Unit, Tulsa Police Patrol, Tulsa Police K-9 and Helicopter participated in this investigation. The investigation was successful because, once confronted with the seriousness and senselessness of this murder people were willing to give testimony that allowed the Tulsa Police Department to arrest Ruble for murder.
The investigation at this point leads us to believe that robbery was the motive . The family was targeted because they were in possession of ATV’s that Ruble and others wanted. Detectives believe that there is one more person that has knowledge about this crime. We have been in contact with this person and he is weighing his options. Obviously we want him to turn himself over to detectives to be interviewed. We are actively seeking him at this time but we will wait to release his name.
Tulsa Police have recovered a weapon along the route of Ruble and his Charger on the night of the murder. We walked the median out along the highway and found a .40 caliber handgun. The shell casings at the scene are .40 caliber shell casings.
We are asking anyone with knowledge of this murder to call Crime Stoppers at 918 596 2677 or the homicide tip line at 918 798 8477 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
As of this writing Ruble is still at the Detective Division. He will booked soon.
Homicide would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in solving this crime
