Update: Third person arrested in kidnapping, assault case

Updating the very latest on a kidnapping case that resulted in the death of a suspect on Wednesday, during a high-speed chase.

Tulsa police say 19-year-old Jeffrey Gray was arrested on Friday and faces counts of kidnapping, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Matthew Kelly is already in the Tulsa County Jail for the same counts.

A third suspect, Christopher Teter, is said to have turned a gun on himself after a Wednesday high-speed chase.

Original: A pursuit through midtown Tulsa came to an abrupt end Wednesday afternoon when the suspect shot himself.

It began just before 1:30 p.m. when police attempted to serve warrants for assault and kidnapping on a man near 71st and Mingo.

He took off in a vehicle, and led police on a chase that lasted about a half hour, during which TPD says he fired at officers at three different locations.

Using a shotgun, he shot at his pursuers near 65th and Sheridan, 21st and Yale, and 38th and Yale.

At 41st and Yale, police say, he rammed a TPD vehicle and officers opened fire on him.

Officers don't believe they hit the suspect, but within two blocks he wrecked the car on the median.

At that point, police say the man turned a gun on himself and committed suicide.

They have not released his name.

Police have not reported any injuries  to officers.

Yale Ave between 41st and 43rd Streets will be closed for several hours.
