Tulsa, Okla. - The National Weather Service in Tulsa has updated the severe weather threat forecast for today, tonight and Sunday.
The main event still looks to unfold later this evening and overnight in our area with the potential for scattered tornadic supercells to move into the area from the west near or after dark followed by a severe squall line advancing into the area after midnight.
Very little change has been made to the previous forecast for the afternoon.
The KRMG Storm Center will remain fulled staffed and ready to bring you the latest information about the severe weather threat.
In the event of a tornado, follow these tips from Ready.Gov:
- Go to a pre-designated shelter area such as a safe room, basement, storm cellar, or the lowest building level. If there is no basement, go to the center of an interior room on the lowest level (closet, interior hallway) away from corners, windows, doors, and outside walls. Put as many walls as possible between you and the outside. Get under a sturdy table and use your arms to protect your head and neck.
- In a high-rise building, go to a small interior room or hallway on the lowest floor possible.
- Put on sturdy shoes.
- Do not open windows.
