Update: Police fired shot that killed standoff suspect

Tulsa Police say a veteran officer shot and killed the man after he fired a shotgun at police.

The officer's name will not be mentioned until the suspect's name is released.

Police say that information should be available Thursday morning.

Tulsa police received 911 calls about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday reporting that gunfire had been heard at the Parr Apartments near 1100 South Rockford Avenue.

Tulsa Police Officer Jill Roberson tells us officers responded to the area where they located a man who fired a shot at police from a second floor window.

We're told police had returned the gunfire and the suspect fell to the floor of the apartment.

Around 5:30 a.m., police entered the apartment where they found the suspect dead.

It was unclear whether the man had been shot by police or had committed suicide during the standoff.

The suspect's name has not been released.
