Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett Jr. didn’t struggle for words in describing his mother.
“There is nothing more pure than a mother's love and she was a perfect example of that,” he told KRMG news.
Bartlett added, “She was a perfect example of a mother and of grace and of hope.”
Ann Bartlett died Saturday at the age of 92, but not before leaving a huge imprint on her family.
“My brother and sister and I, we are so lucky to have not only one great parent, but two great parents,” Bartlett told us.
Bartlett’s siblings include Joan Atkinson and Michael Bartlett.
Dewey Bartlett Sr. was not only Oklahoma’s Governor, but also he was a United States Senator.
He died of lung cancer in 1979.
Bartlett Jr. told KRMG news that his mother didn’t look for the spotlight, but was not a silent partner.
“She was the one in the background of all the great things my dad did.”
The entire family was with Mrs. Bartlett at the end.
“She died peacefully,” Bartlett told us. “Even after 92 years it still hurts when you lose your mother."
The Mayor assured us that he is at peace with her death because of his faith.
“Knowing she’s in a good place with my father now and knowing that her mother’s pure love is still with us, is with me,” he smiled.
Christ the King Catholic Church in Tulsa will host a funeral mass for Ann Bartlett Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.
