MOORE, Okla. - A tornado packing 200 M.P.H. winds tore a half-mile wide path of destruction through Moore.
KRMG has learned that at least 24 students were killed when their elementary school took a direct hit from the tornado.
Fox News is reporting that at least four people were killed at a 7-11 convenience store as the tornado carved through the area.
Officials with the state medical examiner's office confirm that 51 people have died.
That number is expected to rise as recovery efforts continue.
Late Monday evening, Amy Elliott, chief administrative officer of the Oklahoma office of the Chief Medical Examiner said that more than 20 of the victims are children.
Governor Mary Fallin's office says President Obama called Fallin to express his concern and offer the assistance of FEMA and other federal agencies.
