Unregistered sex offender gets caught with drugs, children's clothing

A 63-year-old unregistered sex offender is pulled over earlier this week and officers are surprised by what they find.

Tulsa police say the traffic stop happened near the airport, after Michael Ballew's vehicle was seen speeding down the road.

Once officers started looking into Ballew, things went from bad to worse for the suspect.

First, police say his plate had expired and he was driving with an expired driver's license.

Then, a quick search of Ballew's records showed he was a sex offender, but his current address was not listed in Tulsa.  Ballew told officers he hadn't had the chance to change his address yet.

Finally, officers searched Ballew's vehicle.  Police say they found meth and ecstasy inside the vehicle along with a cut up drinking straw.

Officers also found: sex toys, condoms, Polaroid pictures of women and children, children's clothing, a baby bottle, two disposable cameras, and flavored lubricant.

Police say Ballew explained the children's clothing by stating a friend sometimes allowed him to watch their child.

Ballew was then arrested and taken to the Tulsa County Jail.
