Two more flu-related deaths in Tulsa County reported

The Oklahoma State Department of Health has issued its latest numbers, indicating two more people in Tulsa County have died from flu-related symptoms in the last week.

That brings the total since the flu season began Sept. 30 of last year to six deaths in Tulsa County, with 23 fatalities statewide.

Of those fatalities, 18 patients were 65 years old or older; five were between the ages of 19 and 64, while no one under the age of 18 has died so far this season from flu, according to OSDH.

The total number of hospitalizations statewide is 798 so far this season, with Tulsa County reporting 236, the most in the state.

Tulsa County has had twice as many fatalities as any other county so far from flu-related illness; Comanche County is second with three.
