Two men wounded during gunfire into car

A shotgun blast to the inside of a car sent two men to a Tulsa hospital.

We're told the men were at the Sandy Park apartments at 6322 West 11th Place early Wednesday when another man armed with the weapon approached their car and tried to rob one of them.

That's when one of the victims "grabbed the muzzle of the shotgun and attempted to push the suspect back and that's when the suspect fired one round into the car," Tulsa Police Sergeant Brett Bilyeu said.

We're told one of the victims had gone "to Sandy Park apartments to visit his sister. When he was getting ready to exit the vehicle a light-skin black male pointed a shotgun at them."

The gunshot caused injuries to the driver's hand as well as the passenger's arm and hand.

The victims drove to their residence near 200 North 44th West Avenue where police were called.

Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

They were identified as James Schultz, Junior, and Clint Cecil.

Bilyeu says the victims were not able to identify the suspect, but one man who matched the description was arrested at Sandy Park.

He was arrested on other charges unrelated to the shooting.
