9/11 Twin Towers burning costumes win Halloween contest

One of the girl’s costumes was marked “North Tower” while the other said “South Tower,” and both had pictures of the planes that hit them along with burning debris.

Amber Langford and Annie Collinge wore the costumes to a nightclub during a costume contest.

Making matters worse, they won.

The prize for the contest and massive amount of bad taste was shopping vouchers worth close to $250.

Once media attention to the costumes became viral the girls apologized saying they "never meant to be offensive."

Instead they claim to have been attempting to "depict a serious, modern-day horror."

Langford’s father was a pilot for United Express in the United States when the 9/11 attacks occurred.

He told The Republic he wasn't happy with the stunt and he was "having a little chat" with his daughter about the lack of judgment.
