Traffic control was set up after acid vapors were discovered to be leaking from a rail car in a Tulsa industrial area. The leak was reported at 11:41 p.m. Thursday at 1200 North Peoria Avenue at the Brainerd Chemical Company. The Tulsa Fire Department Hazmat Unit responded to the scene to monitor air quality. A nearby recycling business was evacuated in order to keep the employees from breathing the fumes. Tulsa police stopped traffic from travelling on North Peoria Avenue from East Latimer Street to I-244 and on Highway 75 from the Inner Dispersal Loop to Pine Street and to Admiral Place until the leak was contained. Officers were posted at each intersection to keep traffic from getting too close to the scene. The leak was stopped at about 1:45 a.m. Friday. No homes were evacuated. EMSA was on the scene in a standby mode, but there were no reports of injuries.
