Tulsa man drowns during rescue attempt at Keystone Lake

The body of an 18-year old drowning victim is recovered from Keystone Lake.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol tells us Brendan Earl had been in the water when he went under Thursday about 4:45 p.m.

We're told Earl was trying to assist 18-year old Kayla Barnett and 17-year old Makia Graves, both from Tulsa, who had stepped into deep water at Lake Country Swim Beach.

We're told that Graves did not know how to swim and was riding on Barnett's shoulders when Barnett stepped into a dropoff and Graves started struggling, causing Barnett to go under the water.

State Troopers say Earl jumped into the water and tried to assist the females.

Witnesses say Earl went under the water, re-surfaced, then went under again.

Graves and Barnett were pulled from the water by an unknown bystander.

Barnett was revived at the scene by EMSA paramedics.

Both Graves and Barnett were taken to the hospital.

Earl's body was recovered at 8:02 p.m. in 8 feet of water, 30 feet west of the shoreline, after being located using a side scanner device.
