Primary election day is here and with it comes several heated races in Oklahoma.
The contest to fill the Senator seat of Dr. Tom Coburn has gotten a great deal of the attention with Republicans James Lankford, TW Shannon and Randy Brogdan fighting for the majority of the conservative vote.
Constance Johnson, Patrick Hayes, and Jim Rogers are running on the Democratic side of that ticket.
The other race drawing attention is the State Superintendent of Public Education where incumbent Janet Barresi and fellow republican Joe Hoffmeister are expected to be the top vote getters.
Senator Jim Inhofe is expected to retain his Senate seat, and Congressmen Markwayne Mullin and Frank Lucas are favorites in Disctricts 2 and 3.
In Tulsa, the retirement of Tim Harris means a new DA will be elected.
Several other familiar names are on ballots today. Congressman Jim Bridenstine is unopposed in District one, while Tom Cole will face several challengers in District 4.
Governer Mary Fallin will face six opponents including Democrat Joe Dorman.
