Tulsa city leaders meeting with law enforcement to help prevent crime

The first of four Tulsa Public Safety Intelligence Working Group meetings got underway Tuesday morning at City Hall.

City Councilor G.T. Bynum leads the group which aims to get a better handle on the resources the city has for collecting anonymous crime tips, what additional tools might be needed and how those tools could be better marketed to the public.

In attendance were Bynum and several other city councilors, representatives from the Tulsa Police Department, Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, Tulsa County District Attorney's Office, EMSA, The Crime Commission, KRMG and other members of the media.

One of the largest items items discussed was the Crime Commission's Crime Stoppers hotline and how it helps with crime prevention and crime solving.

Carol Bush with The Crime Commission discussed how the majority of tips come into (918) 596-COPS, the Crime Stoppers hotline. Bush also noted that many tips are received via text and the internet.
