A trial has begun in a case involving a woman who was shot to death.
A defense lawyer says a man who killed a young, unarmed woman on his porch heard "boom, boom, boom" at last four separate times before he opened the door and shot her in the face.
Jurors heard opening statements yesterday in the trial of Theodore Wafer, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Renisha McBride last November in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
Wafer claims he acted in self-defense, but prosecutors say his actions were unreasonable.
The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m., more than three hours after McBride crashed her car about a half-mile away.
An autopsy found she was drunk.
