The number of confirmed tornadoes this week in the United States is stunning.
A preliminary count by the National Weather Service says 11 tornadoes struck the nation's midsection on Sunday and at least 25 ravaged the South on Monday.
Those two days of fierce storms killed at least 35 people and left neighborhoods destroyed.
But forecasters say the storm system that did damage from the Midwest to the Deep South appears now to be weakening.
