Top ten handguns built in the US

Handgun sales continue to boom, and 2011 was a banner year for firearms manufacturers.

KRMG has obtained a list of the top ten handguns manufactured in the U.S. in 2011, the latest year for which numbers are available from reports compiled by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

The list included a newcomer, the Glock, which cracked the top ten in U.S. production for the first time.

2. Smith & Wesson
3. Sig Sauer
4. Taurus
5. Kimber
6. Beretta
7. Kel Tec
8. Beemiller
9. Saeilo
10. Glock

Sturm, Ruger & Co. reported manufacturing 610,925 handguns at its Arizona plant in 2011.
