Threat investigated at Owasso High School

The Owasso Police Department was contacted Thursday night about an overheard remark from a student.

Officers say the student spoke about what would happen to him if he “blew up the school”.

The fellow student, who overheard the conversation, reported the potential threat to school leaders at the Owasso High School.

The administration called police.

Officers interviewed the witness and the students involved in the conversation.

Police say, “The 16-year-old student acknowledged making the inappropriate statement, but denied that he had any intentions to carry out the act.”

Investigators searched the student’s home and the school and didn’t find any evidence of a planned attack.

Friends of the student told officers that he had never made any previous statements of this nature.

The student who made the inappropriate comment remained in the custody of his parents and criminal charges are not expected.
