The good news is, it wasn’t the real trophy. That one is valued at over $13 million and FIFA officials don’t give it out.
However, the replica they handed Germany after they beat Argentina 1-0 in extra time in the World Cup finals is missing a piece.
When the German team went home after their fourth title, nearly 500,000 people were there to party with them.
"A small piece of our World Cup trophy was chipped off," during that celebration, German Football Association President Wolfgang Niersbach told Die Welt.
Niersbach continued, "do not worry! We have specialists on the case who can fix it."
He also quipped the team "investigated who it was that damaged the trophy."
While the answer didn’t turn up, the trophy will be repaired before it goes on display.
