The results aren’t quite final yet but it looks like the president's half brother will lose big in his bid as an independent candidate.
Malik Obama has the same father as US President Barack Obama but their mothers are different.
During his campaign Malik tried to get mileage out of his famous relative by saying “if my brother is doing great things for people in the United States, why can't I do great things for Kenyans here?”
The final ballots are still being counted in the election with the established party candidates far in front of Obama.
There have been widespread reports of electronic problems and even fraud in the procedures both during the voting and afterwards.
There is also a fear that violence will break out no matter which is declared the winner.
