The woman was kidnapped and tossed into a car, but was able to keep her cell phone. When the man who was driving wasn't looking she sent the text to a human trafficking hotline where it was forwarded to police.
With a description of the car she was in and the road and direction they were going cops found the black SUV quickly.
WVIT-TV in West Hartford, Connecticut reports the vehicle was stopped and the woman jumped out and ran to police.
Cops say Kwamaine Well was arrested for kidnapping, possession of narcotics and disorderly conduct. Further digging found that Well had previous arrests on human trafficking charges.
Cops told the Hartford Courant Well was taking the woman from New York City to Massachusetts with the intention of selling her as a sex slave and prostitute.
The woman is safe and Well is being held on a bond of $100,000.
