Texas driver blames animals, tree for wreck

We can call it the case of the hallucinating driver.

But as the Texas driver learned, claiming to have seen things is no defense if you end up in an accident.

Police in Bryan, Texas, say a man arrested for drunken driving blamed a turtle, a cat, a squirrel and an overhanging tree for the wreck.

After police arrived at the accident scene earlier this week, the driver was slurring his words and unaware of his location.

A witness reported the driver went by on the right shoulder, hit a guardrail, left the road and struck a tree.

The man says he swerved to avoid the turtle, cat and squirrel and ended up hitting the tree.

Police didn't buy the story and have charged the 33-year-old driver with drunken driving.
