Teenager dared, attacked by crocodile

Brisbane, Australia — A dare backfires on a teenager.

An Australian teenager who was attacked by a crocodile after jumping into a crocodile-infested river on a dare is recovering from serious arm wounds.

The 18-year-old was at a hostel in northern Queensland early Sunday when he bragged that he could swim in the river, a known habitat for aggressive saltwater crocodiles.

A British backpacker says others egged him on, though none of them thought he would actually do it.
