Teenage armed robbery suspect shot after refusing Tulsa police commands to drop gun

A teenage armed robbery suspect was shot after threatening Tulsa police with a gun several times.

Two teenage males who were armed with guns entered the U-Stop convenience store at 2520 Mohawk Boulevard about 8 p.m. Sunday.

We're told that they demanded and took cash and cigarettes from the clerk, then fled across the street to an apartment complex.

When police tried to get the suspects to exit the apartment, one of them did, but he had a gun in his hand.

Police say that he refused several times to obey police commands to drop the gun and went back inside, then exited from the back door of the apartment where he also refused to drop the gun.

Police tell us that the suspect eventually exited the front door again where he raised the gun toward officers and was shot in the upper chest.

The 17-year old was taken to the hospital where he was reported to be in surgery.

The suspect's name has not been released.

The other suspect remained inside of the apartment and repeatedly refused police orders to come outside.

That's when the Tulsa Police Special Operations Team fired a chemical agent into the apartment.

The suspect soon came outside where he was arrested at about 1:31 a.m. Monday.

Police tell us that the second suspect is believed to be 18 years old.
