TULSA - Students and employees of Tulsa Community College get free bus rides beginning Friday, thanks to a new program in conjunction with Tulsa Transit.
The pilot program, entitled "TCC Rides for Free," runs through December 13, the end of the fall semester.
Students can pick up a TCC Fall 2013 sticker to put on their student ID at Student Activities, Enrollment Services or Bursar offices on any TCC campus.
Jan Clayton, Vice President for Student Affairs with TCC, tells KRMG the program has met with an enthusiastic reception from students.
She also points out that since bus ridership helps cut down on the city's carbon emission footprint, the program fits in with the college's "Green Initiatives."
The pilot program is the first unlimited free ridership program in the city's history, and is based on similar programs in other communities.
