Things just keep getting worse for the retail giant.
Target now says personal information such as email addresses phone numbers, and mailing addresses were obtained by the hackers.
And the new number of 70 million nearly doubles the previous estimate of 40 million.
Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel released a statement saying "I know that it is frustrating for our guests to learn that this information was taken and we are truly sorry they are having to endure this."
And the next part wasn’t hard to predict.
The store confirms sales are trending downward after the breach.
Target believes sales in established stores during the fourth-quarter will dip at least 2.5%.
Earlier the chain had been more optimistic stating they expected their numbers to be flat.
