Take action: Learn more about people you suspect

The case of a Tulsa man who managed to consistently come into contact with children despite several convictions for child molestation has triggered a reaction from a number of people, some of whom wanted to know what they could do to prevent a tragedy.

One of the people who contacted KRMG was Michelle Modglin, a former Tulsan who says she herself had an experience with her child coming into contact with a sex offender whose past was unknown to her.

The irony is that Modglin has a lot of experience with doing background searches, as she's worked in the bail bond business, in the Tulsa County Courthouse, and with credit agencies.

She points out that in the information age, there are any number of resources for people to utilize if their suspicions are aroused about someone.

Prosecutors say it's important for people to assume the worst, and never think they can tell who's evil and who's good just by their appearance, or how they act, or how long they've known them.

We've listed some of the resources you can utilize to check into someone's past below.

Be aware there are any number of other rescources available, many free, some requiring a minimal charge.
