TAKE ACTION: Duffy's Restaurant, KRMG team up to help fire victims

The news that dozens of people lost all their possessions in Thursday's apartment fire has prompted one restaurant owner to take action.

Steve Chammat, who owns and operates Duffy's Grill at 91st and Sheridan in Tulsa, has pledged to donate 20% of his sales between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, to help the fire victims.

Cox Radio Tulsa, including KRMG, will have a box truck at the location to help collect donated items.

At this time, donations of clothing, blankets, bedding, towels, non-perishable foods, and personal hygiene items are being solicited.

The fire rapidly swept through the 4100 Apartments near 41st and Peoria early Thursday morning.

Tulsa firefighters had to rescue some people, including children, from the second floor of the complex.

A dozen units were completely destroyed, others damaged by smoke and water.

More details on this special Take Action event are coming.
