TULSA, Okla. - The above average rain is great for making the grass green.
It also grows faster than usual which means more frequent mowing.
Jason Carini with Green Country Mowing has some advice. Carini says, "The rule of thumb is: never mow off more than a third of the grass at a time."
Getting control of the tall grass may take multiple mowings.
"Mow it at a high setting like 6 inches and the second time you can mow it at 3.5 or 4 inches," Carini says. "Take small bites out of it."
There is some positive news. Carini says, "You really don't have to worry about fertilizing right now because nature is doing such a great job of helping the grass grow."
