SWAT team gets called out to Sand Springs neighborhood

KRMG has learned neighbors were evacuated from a Sand Springs neighborhood Saturday night near West 36th and South Nassau.

Police say an unidentified man barricaded himself inside a room around 8 p.m., necessitating the evacuation.

The incident started when officers received a call about a suicidal man threatening to hurt himself and family members.

Police say when they arrived at the scene, the suspect pointed a gun at officers.  He then ran into a room.

The suspect was arrested three hours later, when a SWAT team member was able to deploy a Taser.

Police say he was transported to an area hospital for a mental evaluation.
