Suspect admits to robbing restaurant to make car payments

A man confesses to robbing a Chimi's Mexican Food restaurant on Thursday because he was behind on his car payments.

Tulsa police say they received the call around 4 p.m.

Justin Jones walked into the restaurant near 53rd and Harvard, produced a gun and demanded cash.  The suspect told officers he picked Chimis because it appeared empty besides the employees.

Police say he was given an undisclosed amount of cash, jumped in a car and left.

A witness at the scene saw Justin Jones' license plate number, which helped police track him down to his Sand Springs home.

The weapon he used in the robbery ended up being a BB gun.

Jones is currently in the Tulsa County Jail.  He faces one count of robbery with a firearm or dangerous weapon.
