Study: Women describe why they fake 'The Big O'

The question was asked of nearly 500 women sexually active, straight women.

Those who responded were an average of 20 years old, and were not in what they termed a “committed relationship.” The question was straightforward, the Journal of Sexual Archives asked why they had faked it.

Their responses were gathered and the four top answers were.

  • Altruistic deceit. Otherwise known as not making the guy feel bad.
  • Fear and insecurity. Described as not wanting to have bad feelings
  • Elevated arousal. No explanation required.
  • Sexual adjournment. More simply, "are we done yet?"

Researchers admit to be somewhat surprised by the second and third answers and conclude more research is needed.

NBC News reports work done earlier indicated as much as 80% of women admit to having faked it in the past.

Another side note had to do with the age and status of the study group. Time reports doctors have previously noted young, unattached woman often have a harder time being satisfied than do those in committed relationships.
