Study proves what we already knew: Women like bad boys

It seems nice guys really do finish last, at least in love.

The research in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin asked women about men who are "responsive." For this work, scientists describe responsiveness as "being supportive of another person's needs and goals."

If they’re looking for a lifetime relationship, women prefer men who are responsive but like the more aloof fellows in the short term.

In simpler terms, if you’re only looking for a little fun, be bad.

“Women may perceive a responsive man as vulnerable and less dominant,” lead researcher Gurit Birnbaum wrote.

However, if your goal is to find a partner for life, being a good dude is OK.

“Sexual desire thrives on rising intimacy and being responsive is one of the best ways to instill this elusive sensation over time,” Birnbaum noted.
