Damon Lindelof is sorry, sort of.
The man who wrote Star Trek Into Darkness was talking about the scene where Dr. Carol Markus (actress Alice Eve) appears in her unmentionables before donning a space suit.
"I copped to the fact that we should have done a better job of not being gratuitous in our representation of a barely clothed actress," he said in a tweet Monday.
And he didn’t stop there. "We also had Kirk shirtless in underpants in both movies. Do not want to make light of something that some construe as mysogenistic [sic]. What I'm saying is I hear you, I take responsibility, and will be more mindful in the future."
Some Star Trek fans were upset over the scenes calling then unnecessary.
In an email to MTV Lindelof cryptically hinted there was good reason for both scenes. “Well there's a very good answer for that. But I'm not telling you what it is. Because... uh... MYSTERY?"
Star Trek Into Darkness has dominated at the box office since its release last week.
