Small business owners celebrate Small Business Week

Small business week celebrates the nation’s entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses.

The Small Business Administration names winners for Small Business Person of the Year from each of the 50 states, including Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam. Then, one person is chosen as the national winner.

The SBA selects the winners based on several factors. They look at the business' chances of doing well, likelihood of growth of the employee base and sales. Also innovation and community efforts are weighed in.

Oklahoma is still considered one of the best places to start a business. In fact, Tulsa was ranked as Forbes top city in the U.S. to start a small business.
