An early morning burglary turned into a shooting Wednesday in Skiatook.
The 911 call came in around 2 a.m. , reporting that a burglar had shot the homeowner before fleeing the scene.
Police say they found no signs of forced entry.
The victim was taken to St. John Medical Center for surgery, but was coherent and talking with police before he was transported.
The man suffered one gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Police were able to recover a shell casing.
Skiatook investigators have identified the victim as Ken Cooper, 83.
It took several hours for police to enter the home to move the investigation forward, because they had to wait for a warrant to arrive from Pawhuska, the county seat of Osage County and the location of the district court there.
So far, police have no suspects in the case.
