Shots fired call leads to standoff, 18 guns found in home

An early morning domestic disturbance turned into a brief standoff with police, and ended with the confiscation of some 18 firearms from inside the home.

TPD says it responded to a call in the 1400 block of N. Kingston Ave., near E. Pine St. and N. Sheridan Ave.

Emergency operators could hear a woman screaming about someone being shot.

They arrived and established a perimeter, but at first couldn't convince the man inside to come out.

Eventually he did, and police began sorting out what had happened.

Kyle Webster, the suspect's son, identifies the man as Duane Webster.

He says Webster was angry with his daughter's boyfriend.

"Nobody in the family likes him," he told KRMG. The dad had gone out drinking and came home to find the boyfriend still in the home, which angered him and started the dispute.

Shots were fired, but no one was hit.

EMSA did transport a baby from the scene as a precaution, the child was reportedly scratched or cut on the leg.

Kyle says of the 18 guns inside the home, probably 16 of those were shotguns and hand-me-down rifles from family. They hadn't even been cleaned, they've just been sitting in a room on the ground."

He did say he thinks his dad used a semi-automatic rifle to scare the boyfriend, and that the older Webster does have a prior felony conviction from several years ago.

No one was seriously injured.
