Sheriff ad asks drug dealers to turn in other drug dealers

The ad showcases a marijuana leaf on the left and “Attention Drug Dealers,” on the right.
Below that it asks, “is your drug-dealing competition costing you money?” The next line reads, “would you like to eliminate that problem?”
Then the payoff line, “we can help!”

Kiowa County Sheriff Bill Lancaster explained the thought behind the campaign. "In small communities, everybody knows everybody, he told KFOR. "So if they just want to fill it out, drop it off at the sheriff's office, put it in the mailbox. It's just another way to do it."

Gina Hernandez likes the approach. “When I saw this, I thought that's an interesting way to try to get information,” she said.

Steven Boyd agrees and hopes, “they get the message that they are not welcome, and we don't want them here.”
Lancaster knows many doubt the ad will result in arrests. To that he simply says, “hopefully, it will work.”
The sheriff says a few tips have come in and more are expected once the ad runs in other newspapers in the area. Lancaster closed by saying he’s hoping for success because, “it is my personal belief if you have any drugs in your community, you have a drug problem.”
