Shelters see rising drug use in homeless

Homeless shelters have noticed a change in the behavior of several homeless people that they serve.

Now, the agencies that serve the homeless in downtown Tulsa are refusing service to anyone who comes in under the influence of K2, otherwise known as ‘spice.’

K2 was originally known as a type of synthetic marijuana, but it was blossomed into a bigger problem. People using the substance are known to have unpredictable behavior.

The substance, known as "K2" or "spice," started off as a type of synthetic marijuana, but it's become a drug with unpredictable side effects.

Shelter officials say they’ve seen a jump in use of the substance in the last six months to a year. They hope by suspending service to those under the influence that they will stop using.
