Senator Jim Inhofe returned to the floor of the U.S. Senate eight days after the death of his son in a plane crash.
Inhofe also underwent emergency heart surgery nearly six weeks ago.
Inhofe took the floor Monday afternoon to discuss the defense bill, but he first thanked the Senate chaplain and majority leader Harry Reid for their comments about his son's death.
Dr. Perry Inhofe was killed when the plane he was piloting crashed near Owasso on Nov. 10. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, but had not released a preliminary report as of Monday afternoon.
