The Bellingham Christian School is Bellingham, Washington doesn't get a lot of perfect days this time of year and they just couldn't resist.
They called today a “Sun” day for the 205 students as well as parents, and teachers.
Principal Bob Sampson announced the day off on the school's site like this "
SCHOOL CANCELLED DUE TO GREAT WEATHER! WAHOOO!
"Yeah! It's a Sun Day today and everyone gets the day off from school. Thank you teachers and students for working so hard. Enjoy your day and send me your creative pictures of you playing outside in the sunshine. We will show them at our Monday assembly."
Sampson said he relished the chance to allow students a chance to enjoy the weather and re-energize. "In a world that's got a lot hard things going, its' fun to create a moment joy," Sampson noted.
He points out he surveyed parents and floated the idea with the school board before canceling school.
The forecast for the weekend in the area is sun and temperatures in the 80’s.
The sun day was also made possible because there weren't any days off because of snow this school year.
Friday is not the first time the school has given students the day off because of sunshine. The last time was two years ago. It was a big hit then too!
