"Routine circumcision" ends with complete penile removal

Johnny Lee Banks expected to wake up with no complications after a “routine circumcision.”

Instead, he awoke without his penis.

Banks filed a suit against two doctors, and the Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

In the suit, Banks claims he "never gave consent for the complete or partial amputation of (his) penis."

Banks says he wasn't warned there was a possibility of the amputation, nor was he provided an explanation afterwards. Al.com reports, it goes on to accuse doctors of being remiss when they didn't seek help from other physicians when complications arose.

In a release, the hospital says they "intend to defend all counts aggressively."

The suit seeks damages for pain and suffering as well as “loss of the consortium."
