Vincent Kelly was just shopping with friends when a man tried to rob an in-store bank branch.
Kelly noticed when the crook jumped over the counter with a duffle bag dressed completely in black and began to run from the store.
Kelley ran after him, it turned out to be a mistake.
Kelley’s friend described what happened “the guy pulled the gun on Vinnie right outside the store, and Vinnie didn't stop.
So the bad guy turned and ran again, jumping in his car but Kelley kept up the pursuit.
As the man tried to drive away Kelley leaped into the car and tried to grab a knife he carried on his belt.
That’s when the robber “reached up behind his head over the seat and shot off six rounds out of his gun," Kelley’s friend said.
Vincent fell out of the car as it drove away and died from his wounds.
Police in South Strabane Township gave a warning saying they "certainly applaud a citizen's efforts to help society, but you see the ramifications, it cost him his life."
Kelley’s 19-year-old daughter added “this is Father's Day and he's supposed to be with me. I want whoever did this to know how much it hurts.”
