'Revenge porn' bill headed to Fallin's desk

A form of revenge could soon be illegal in Oklahoma.

We're told a bill is headed to Gov. Mary Fallin to be signed, that would make "revenge porn" a crime.

An Oklahoma City newspaper reports SB 1257 states a person would be committing a misdemeanor if they intentionally distribute an explicit image of another person with an intent to embarrass or harass.

The punishment is up to one year in a county jail and a fine up to $1,000.

"This is a purely destructive act that almost exclusively targets women, and it should be a crime," Sen. David Holt, R-Oklahoma City told the newspaper.

Also, the measure will give judges the ability to order the image be removed from platforms like social media.

If the bill is signed, the law would take effect Nov. 1.
