The report says the bacteria was found in more than half of the samples of turkey, pork, ground beef, and chicken tested after being bought at supermarkets.
Contaminates like E. coli and salmonella were some of the more troubling finds in the samples.
Testers said nearly 75% of the salmonella found on raw chicken was antibiotic resistant. Compare that to less than 50% in 2002 and you see the reason for concern.
Workers say they are worried the findings will rekindle the debate on the use of antibiotics in animals raised for meat.
Some veterinarians claim the report used too small a sample and is misleading.
Here’s the really disgusting news.
87% of the meat tested contained at least some form of fecal contamination.
Yuck.
