TULSA, Okla. - Highway 169 northbound at 71st Street is shut down by an overturned trash truck leaking compressed natural gas.
KRMG has learned that a tow truck was towing a fully-loaded trash truck when the trash truck began to wobble and eventually overturned just north of 71st Street around 11 Monday morning.
Crews have shutdown the northbound lanes because the trash truck is leaking CNG from its fuel tank, creating a fire hazard.
Investigators tell FOX23 that it will be at least 2:30 P.M. before they reopen the highway.
Cars stuck on the highway past the 71st St exit were being allowed to pass on the right shoulder around 12:30.
The trash truck, owned by NeWSolutions, was being hauled to a repair shop when it came loose. Company officials tell KRMG that the truck had experienced mechanical problems Monday morning.
