Proof you should never bring a baseball bat to a gunfight

The man in the house told police that 32 year old Samuel Pompa tried to break in and was armed with a baseball bat.

That’s when the occupant of the residence grabbed his shotgun to protect himself and several others in the room.

You don’t have to guess how that went.

When police arrived they found Pompa with a shotgun blast wound to the chest. He was taken to an area hospital but died there.

There have been no arrests in the case but police told the Midland Reporter-Telegram said an autopsy will be conducted, and after it is completed the case will be sent to the District Attorney's Office.
