LONG ISLAND, NY - Officers watched as Robert Lubrano bought crack from a man in the parking lot of a sleazy motel.
Even veteran officers were shocked to find Lubrano is a Catholic priest. “I have been smoking crack cocaine ever since my sister was murdered,” Lubrano explained to police.
Research confirms Lubrano’s sister Pat Ward died when her mentally ill son cut her head off in 2014. The tragedy doubled when the man, Derek Ward, killed himself by jumping in front of a train.
“He killed my sister because we couldn’t get the prescriptions he needed,” Lubrano told the New York Daily News. “For four days, he didn’t have his meds.”
Lubrano concluded, “he was a sick, sick kid.”
Officers say they also found marijuana when they arrested the unassigned priest.
Lubrano faced arraignment this week and is out of jail while waiting for a Monday court date.
